On Friday, the Malmö police participated in a Muslim holiday celebration in Rosengård. A female police officer stepped onto the stage, greeted the participants—who appeared to be mostly men—with an Arabic phrase and then praised them for their fasting.
Ramadan, the holy month of fasting for Muslims, began this year at the end of February and has been ongoing for about a month. During this time, Muslims abstain from food and drink from dawn until sunset. Today, Friday, March 20, Ramadan ends with Eid al-Fitr, one of the biggest holidays in Islam.
This is where the Malmö police traditionally took part in the mass prayer and gave a speech. Representing the Police Authority is always community police officer Malin Morän. She has previously also participated in Ramadan events in Rosengård. She has considerable knowledge of Islam—at the Islamic Federation’s quiz at the beginning of the month, she answered all the questions correctly.
