A man in his mid-40s is being treated for serious injuries after being stabbed outdoors in Malmö. Police are investigating the incident as an attempted murder. According to media reports, the Swedish Security Service (Säpo) has been involved following information suggesting a possible hate crime motive. Witnesses state that the perpetrator shouted antisemitic messages during the attack.
The stabbing occurred around 3 PM on Wednesday in the area between Södervärn and Möllevångstorget. According to information provided to Aftonbladet, the man was attacked outside a shop and the assault was caught on camera.
The victim is said to have been assaulted from behind and struck by multiple stab wounds. He was transported to the hospital by ambulance, where Region Skåne later stated that he was seriously injured.
Later that evening, police announced that a man in his 40s had been detained by a prosecutor on suspicion of attempted murder.

The suspected man is said to have been arrested at a nearby hospital. Reports indicate he was on a ward where women and their newborns are cared for, and he apparently brandished a knife there.
The arrest reportedly took place without incident, and the man did not offer any resistance. In parallel with the attempted murder investigation, police are examining whether the attack may have had a hate crime motive.
Sources state that the detained man had previously participated in pro-Palestinian demonstrations. Witnesses are also said to have heard the perpetrator say things during the attack that were perceived as antisemitic.
At the same time, there is nothing to indicate that the stabbed man is himself Jewish or has any known connection to Israel. Säpo confirms that the agency has communicated with Malmö police regarding the incident.
