Influencer Eleonore Stokholm states that she was offered 150,000 kronor for a single Instagram post in which she would explain why her followers should vote for the Social Democrats. She is now reacting to a video where Magdalena Andersson appears alongside two influencers, urging viewers to go and vote. “I think it’s a bit shady,” says Stokholm. The Social Democrats have denied these claims.

It was on Wednesday evening that Stokholm published several posts on Instagram, criticizing the way the Social Democrats involve influencers in their election campaign.

In one post, she shared a video featuring the party leader for the Social Democrats, Magdalena Andersson, together with two influencers.

Along with the video, she wrote: “I was offered 150,000 SEK for 1 Instagram post where I would talk about why people should vote for the Social Democrats in the election… I turned it down. I wonder what these girls got paid.”

Stokholm, who is known from the TV4 program Förrädarna and has about 50,000 followers on Instagram, later expanded on her claims in her own video.

“My moral compass says no”

In the video, Stokholm says that she usually does not discuss politics on her social media. She then explains that about six months ago she was contacted by an agency that handles collaborations.

The Social Democrats wanted her to tell her followers why she would vote for them in the election. The compensation: 150,000 kronor for one post.

She says the sum was much higher than what she usually associates with such collaborations.

“It was a lot of money,” she says in the video.

However, she chose to say no.

“My moral compass says stop.”

“A bit shady”

Stokholm goes further in her criticism, describing the phenomenon as a form of political influence that exists in a grey area.

“I think it’s ugly, I think it’s a bit shady. And I think it’s a sort of influence campaign that’s in the grey zone,” she says in a video.

She also implies that there may be other influencers who have received similar offers.

On Wednesday evening, the Social Democrats took to X to deny the claims, stating that they never pay to appear in digital creators’ channels and that the information is unknown to the party.
