When Eolus started its wind turbines in the eastern part of the municipality in September, the residents in the area were disturbed by the noise and made a report to the County Administrative Board, which is the supervisory authority. However, the Board sees no reason to conduct new sound measurements and closes the case.
According to residents nearby, the noise is significantly louder than a refrigerator, as Eolus previously claimed, and they do not consider it to be a reasonable living environment. Their own measurements also show that the noise level from the Boarp wind farm in Vaggeryd municipality is far above the permitted level. The County Administrative Board responded by forwarding the complaint to the wind power company along with a request for them to account for how the operations are conducted regarding the noise level.
Despite the neighbors’ belief that an accredited and external noise measurement should be made for comparison with the company’s measurement, it was rejected according to Skillingaryd.nu by the County Administrative Board, which argued that the noise calculations made to meet the permit requirements are done with a safety margin and in accordance with standardized calculations. At the same time, they expressed trust that the company will take action if it turns out that the wind power, at the start of operation, would produce a higher noise level than what the manufacturer has indicated.

Eolus responded to the County Administrative Board that the wind turbines are in operation and run in accordance with the previous sound calculation, and that a sound measurement will be conducted between January and April next year to verify that the noise level stays within the limits.
Thus, the response to the disturbed neighbors was that there is no reason to precede the sound measurements that the company will perform or to assume that the measurements and calculations of the noise level would not meet the requirements according to established calculation models and standards. They also see no reason to distrust the company’s information that the wind turbines are operated in accordance with the conditions that formed the basis for the sound calculations they themselves have developed.
