Police in Stockholm are investigating a suspected attempted murder after a young man was found seriously injured in the district of Gröndal early on Thursday evening. The man was taken by ambulance to the hospital where he was treated for a severed hand, injuries to the tongue, and legs.
According to the police, the perpetrators are said to have used ‘a larger knife’ in the assault, and there is speculation that it may have been a machete – a weapon that has become increasingly common in street fights within the gang environment.

Witnesses in Gröndal saw two people fleeing from the crime scene after the attack. The police are working to track down the perpetrators, using dog patrols, examining surveillance cameras, and questioning witnesses.
A same-aged friend of the injured man has been arrested on suspicion of involvement in the crime and has also had his mobile phone confiscated.
Several theories about the motive
Police are investigating several possible motives behind the violent machete attack. One theory is that the crime may have arisen in connection with a debt, while another points to internal gang conflicts within the circle to which the injured man belongs.
According to sources cited by Aftonbladet, individuals involved in the incident are linked to a criminal network in the Stockholm area that is loyal to the Kurdish Fox network, as well as another network with connections to the Dale network.

Police are investigating whether the conflict may have its roots in tensions between these networks. The victim’s severed hand is said to have been reattached during treatment.

Crime investigator: Starting to resemble Mexico
