US President Donald Trump and his administration believe that the mass immigration that European countries have allowed to continue for decades risks causing an imminent and total cultural dissolution of the continent. They also believe that European governments are obstructing peace in Ukraine and that they have “unrealistic expectations” about the war.

The dark future picture is painted in the national security strategy of the United States, where it is noted that Europe has economic problems, something that is, however, ”overshadowed by the real and harsher prospect of the annihilation of civilization” within the next 20 years.

“The major issues that Europe faces include the activities of the European Union and other transnational bodies that undermine political freedom and sovereignty, migration policies that are transforming the continent and creating conflicts, censorship of freedom of speech and suppression of political opposition, declining birth rates and loss of national identities and self-confidence,” writes the Trump administration in the 33-page document.

EU governments have “unrealistic expectations”

The report also addresses the ongoing Ukraine war and the United States’ new initiative, through President Donald Trump, to end the conflict through peace negotiations with Russia. According to the White House report, however, it is the European governments that are preventing this.

It is clear that the Trump administration feels hindered by EU governments that have “unrealistic expectations about the war”. Furthermore, it is stated that these governments are often minority governments and that their statements about peace do not reflect how they actually act in their work on the conflict and its parties.

The new security strategy represents a clear ideological alignment between Donald Trump’s MAGA movement and Europe’s nationalist parties, according to Politico.

”America encourages its political allies in Europe to promote this revival of spirit, and the growing influence of patriotic European parties certainly gives cause for great optimism”, it further states.

Europeans in the minority – the view of the world is changing

The administration admits that ”Europe is still strategically and culturally important to the United States” but that its views on the continent are consistent with previous statements on migration and freedom of speech.

”In the long run, it is more than likely that some NATO members will become majority non-European within a few decades”, it is also stated.

EU Commission spokesperson Paula Pinho says she is aware of the report but has not had time to review it and adds that the EU’s executive body will ”definitely” announce its position in due course.
