The Social Democrats have announced a policy aimed at increasing the mixing of the population as a solution to Sweden’s integration problems after years of lackluster results. At the same time, it appears that there is little interest among the party leadership themselves to move to the areas designated as particularly vulnerable.
Last year, the Social Democrats adopted a new party program with a clear focus on pushing their so-called integration initiatives after many years of mass immigration. The document states, among other things:
“Efforts to keep society together and break down segregation need to increase,” the new party program reads in part, along with: “Urban planning that in all aspects counteracts segregation, particularly in the housing sector.”

Among the more striking proposals is a strategy to forcibly integrate society by mixing the population. Rental apartments are to be built in white, Swedish-dominated residential areas, to which immigrants will be moved.
Immigrants who refuse to live in mixed neighborhoods risk losing their social benefits, while homeowners in the affected areas will have no opportunity to influence the decision.
S senior does not want to be forcibly integrated
It is in an interview with Expressen that Anders Ygeman, the Social Democrats’ spokesperson on education policy, is asked if he would consider moving to such an area “for the sake of integration.”
The top Social Democrat gives a brief answer:
– No.

When asked to elaborate on his position, he instead refers to his current housing situation in Årsta, southern Stockholm, where he says he is “incredibly happy.”

Host Viktor Barth-Kron notes in the interview that he has received no affirmative answers from Social Democrat representatives when asking the same question, despite the party pushing a forced-mixing policy.
Ygeman replies that it’s not surprising that his party colleagues do not want to live in these troubled areas, where the party, in most cases, also enjoys strong voter support.
– The point is that these areas are vulnerable and need to be lifted. So it’s not that strange that several people you ask are not very keen to move there.

Magdalena Andersson blev arg när hon fick frågan om hon kan tänka sig flytta till ett utsatt område för integrationen. Nu erkänner också Anders Ygeman (S).
