Venezuela will only buy products from the USA. This is now promised by President Donald Trump in a post on his own social media platform, Truth Social.
“I have just received information that Venezuela will ONLY buy U.S.-made products with the funds they receive from our new oil deal. These purchases include, among other things, American agricultural products as well as American-made medicines, medical technology products, and equipment to improve Venezuela’s power grid and energy facilities,” Trump writes in his post, which continues:
“In other words, Venezuela commits to doing business with the United States of America as its main partner — a wise choice and a very good thing for the people of Venezuela and the United States.”
Uncertain future leadership in Venezuela
Trump has said that the U.S. will “govern” Venezuela and take over the country’s oil. The money that the Latin American country gets for the oil is therefore also to end up in the U.S., according to the plan.

Last Saturday, Venezuela’s President Nicolás Maduro was captured in a spectacular American military raid in which dozens of Venezuelans were killed. The attack has been criticized as it violates international law.

The attack has not resulted in a regime change in Venezuela. The so-called Bolivarians, named after the freedom fighter Simón Bolívar, still lead the country. And on Tuesday, Vice President Delcy Rodríguez was sworn in as the new acting president.

“I swear with pain over the abduction of the two heroes who are now held hostage in the United States of America: President Nicolás Maduro and First Lady Cilia Flores,” Rodríguez said during the ceremony as she was sworn in.
The acting president has since continued to demand that Maduro and Flores be released by the U.S.
