The red-green opposition is strengthening its hold in the SVT/Verian voter barometer for May, with the gap between the blocs now the largest since August 2023.
The Tidö parties are down by a total of 1.5 percentage points, which means the gap with the red-greens has increased to 10.7 percentage points.
According to Verian, voter shifts are going in several directions at once. Some of the Tidö parties’ losses go to the opposition, but a significant portion also goes to undecided voters and parties outside of parliament. The decline is considered statistically significant since February.
The trend points to a certain fragmentation in voter support, where voters are leaving the government bloc without necessarily going directly to the opposition.
Differences are also seen between various voter groups. The Tidö parties are losing the most among men, with support dropping by four percentage points since April. The change is described as statistically significant.
At the same time, uncertainty is increasing among women, with the share of those not stating any party preference rising to around one fifth.
On the opposition side, the trend is moving in the opposite direction. The Green Party has the clearest increase in the poll, up by 1.8 percentage points to 7.9 percent, while the Centre Party drops 1.3 percentage points.
Overall, this means that the red-greens now lead by 10.7 percentage points – the largest measured gap between the blocs in almost three years.
The survey
Verian’s voter barometer is based on about 3,000 interviews from the Sifo panel, which consists of roughly 85,000 people recruited through random selection.
Participants are between 18 and 84 years old, with additional phone interviews conducted for older age groups.
The question asked is which party you would vote for if there were an election today. Results are weighted to reflect the population in terms of gender, age, region, and educational level. The survey was carried out between April 27 and May 10, 2026.
