Former Social Democratic minister Annika Strandhäll has once again found herself in hot water, this time after sharing an obviously satirical image about the Sweden Democrats (SD) on X. The post, which was presented as a news article, claimed, among other things, that an SD politician was threatened with exclusion after being seen driving an electric car.
The absurd content of the image quickly led several people on social media to point out that it was satire. Despite this, Strandhäll had already managed to share the image with her followers along with the comment, “SD. From strength to strength :)”.

Among those who pointed out Strandhäll’s mistake was right-wing debater Mattias Lindberg, who stated on Facebook that “Strandhäll shares obvious satire and thinks it’s real.”
The day after Strandhäll’s initial sharing of the satirical image, and after being notified about her mistake, she attempted to downplay the situation and later claimed that she had indeed realized from the beginning that the image was satire.
— Of course this is satire. I apologize if anyone didn’t realize that. Obviously, I take responsibility for this and should have been clearer, she later wrote on the X platform.

Several, however, pointed out that Strandhäll’s original comment did not contain any hint of irony or indicate that the post was meant as a joke. Critics therefore argue that the former minister initially believed the image was genuine – and only attempted to save face when the reactions started pouring in.
This is not the first time Annika Strandhäll has drawn attention through her posts on social media. The former minister is known for her high activity on X and her recurring factual errors.
