After a tip from the American organization NCMEC, the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, the person was brought in for questioning last week and was assigned a public defender.

NCMEC is the largest child protection organization in the United States. It was founded in 1984 and works :censored:6:cdd6bbaa89:ly to find missing children, prevent abductions, and combat sexual exploitation. Each year, NCMEC sends a large number of tips to the Swedish police about suspected child pornography offenses.

The current case concerns, according to the national television broadcaster, “child pornography offenses at an unknown location in Sweden” and was registered back in April. After, among other things, being in contact with a foreign authority, the suspect was brought in last week for questioning by the police’s special investigations unit. Several electronic devices were seized during a house search.

Released after questioning

– An interrogation has been held, after which the person was released. But the suspicions remain, says prosecutor Lena Körner at the Special Prosecution Office.

Sources within the police told SVT that the suspect is a Member of Parliament with several key assignments for their party.
