The planned bombing was intended to target a person connected to a gang conflict – but the perpetrators struck the wrong address in southern Greater Stockholm. Instead, an innocent family was affected, and a mother was forced to have both her legs amputated, while her daughter was also injured. Now, the former Sweden Democrats (SD) figure identified as the instigator has been sentenced to life in prison, while several others in the multicultural gang are punished for their involvement in the attack.
It was late at night in April last year when a residential area in Tumba was shaken by a powerful explosion. But the gang behind the attack had made a mistake with the address. A hand grenade was thrown through a bedroom window, detonating and sparking a large fire that destroyed the home.
In the room were a woman in her mid-30s and her four-year-old daughter. Both sustained extremely serious injuries. The mother later lost both her legs after the explosion, while the daughter suffered extensive fractures. The father and another child were also in the house.
The investigation revealed that the family had no connection to the gang conflict behind the attack. Instead, the real intended target is believed to have been a neighbor who, according to police, had a significant drug debt.

The police investigation led to six people being indicted for various roles in planning and executing the bombing. The evidence included chat messages, technical evidence from mobile phones, and witness statements.
According to the investigation, several of those involved have ties to the criminal Foxtrot network, associated with its leader Rawa Majid, better known as the “Kurdish Fox.”
On Tuesday, the Södertörn District Court delivered its verdict. Of the six persons indicted, five are convicted for varying degrees of involvement in the bombing. Several of those convicted denied wrongdoing, whereas the perpetrator admitted his role in the incident.
The individual who, according to the court, was behind the order for the attack is the former SD profile and Kurdish commentator who went by the name Bawan Said, 31, and later called himself Joseph Avraham Said. He has been sentenced to life in prison.

Kurdish Fox’s Gang
The court determined that the man played a central role in organizing the bombing and that the crime had a clear link to organized gang crime – specifically the Foxtrot network led by the Kurdish Fox.
The court emphasized that the consequences for the innocent victims were very serious and that the grave nature of the crime justified the harshest sentence for Bawan Said / Joseph Avraham Said. The family suffered lifelong injuries and simultaneously lost their home.
The man who carried out the attack by throwing the hand grenade is a 32-year-old Swede named Philip Persson. He was sentenced to 13 years and 10 months in prison.

Another person, 32-year-old Jalal Issa, who according to the verdict helped arrange contact with the perpetrator and assisted with transportation and communication, received 11 years and 10 months in prison.
A 16-year-old boy named Artin Baram was convicted for his involvement after participating in a video call where instructions were given regarding the use of the grenade. As he is already serving secure juvenile detention for another bombing offense, that sentence was extended by a further four months.
Another Swedish man, 22-year-old Tobias Gustavsson, was convicted of supplying the parties involved with the hand grenade. He received an additional sentence of a year and four months on top of the prison sentence he is already serving for aggravated weapons offenses.
The sixth accused person was acquitted of the charges.
Praised Within SD
In connection with Samnytt’s previous reporting on the case, we also noted how, during his time in the Sweden Democrats, he was praised by party members.

In one of the Sweden Democrats’ posts during the 2018 election campaign, Said was praised by the party’s group leader in Gothenburg, Jörgen Fogelklou, for his commitment.
“I am proud to have him as a party colleague!” he wrote about his then-fellow party member, who at that time was an outspoken critic of Islam.
The now life-sentenced gangster thanked the SD leader for the kind words, saying, “Together we shall win both regionally and locally to make Sweden safe again!”

Appeared on SVT
The state broadcaster SVT has also invited the now life-sentenced gang member to its debate programs, including topics related to Kurdish issues and problems in so-called vulnerable areas.
