This weekend, the United States and Israel launched joint attacks against the Islamist dictatorship in Iran, and President Donald Trump’s administration now warns that it may take time and require more lives before a definitive victory can be declared.
After the American intelligence agency CIA is said to have tracked the country’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, for months, he was killed in one of the attacks, which has led to great joy among Iranian exiles. At the same time, Iran has launched counterattacks against Israeli and American targets in the Middle East. Among other actions, hundreds of ballistic missiles have been fired at American bases.
At a press conference on Monday, U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth said that the attacks on Iran are necessary as the country refuses to seriously negotiate about its nuclear ambitions. He expressed his condolences for the four American soldiers who have lost their lives so far. The American attacks on Iran continue.

– We are fighting to win. War is hell and it will claim lives. Our ambitions are not utopian—they are realistic, said Hegseth.
At the same time, he assures that this will not become an endless war and that Trump’s administration puts the interests of the United States and Americans first.
– We did not start this war, but under President Donald Trump, we are ending this war.

Massive Combat Operation
According to Defense Chief Dan Caine, the U.S. managed to hit over a thousand targets in Iran in a single day. Caine states the goal is to destroy the country’s missiles and navy as well as to stop Iran’s attempt to develop nuclear weapons. At the same time, he expects more American lives to be lost. Reinforcements are also said to be on the way.
– We expect more losses and we are working to keep them as minimal as possible. But this is a massive combat operation that will not be concluded in a single day, said Caine.
On Monday, the U.S. military also confirmed that Kuwaiti air defenses mistakenly shot down three American F-15 fighter jets operating in Iran-related missions. However, all six crew members survived.
