During the night leading up to Monday, police were alerted to a shooting in Adolfsberg, Helsingborg. Two injured individuals were found at the scene.
The police were called just before midnight. The gunshot victims were a man and a woman, in their 20s and 25s respectively. Around 3 a.m., the police confirmed that the man had died from his injuries while the woman was described as seriously injured.
The couple are known to the police from before – the man is said to have been convicted of several different crimes, including extortion at gunpoint, drug offenses, and weapons violations.
After a forensic investigation at the scene, a search operation for the perpetrator is underway, surveillance cameras are being checked, and door-to-door inquiries are being conducted in the surrounding area. Throughout the day, the investigation will continue with further interviews and analysis of evidence from the crime scene.
“We are in the process of gathering evidence and we welcome any observations from the area,” says the on-duty officer Thelander to the national television broadcaster.
“You get scared”
The shooting took place in a residential area but not directly next to a specific home.
A woman living next to the scene of the crime heard five or six shots fired.
“Then I heard a woman scream. It’s scary, you get scared,” she told Helsingborgs Dagblad.
