Samnytt has reviewed the comment sections for the Sweden Democrats’ youth league, Ungsvenskarna. We have compiled clear evidence of hatred, especially towards young women representing the party, and have therefore mapped how this takes shape. Among those expressing hate towards SD-girls are union representatives.

Ahead of the upcoming election, our editorial staff has noticed a clear trend of hate, threats, and abuse directed mainly at young women representing the Sweden Democrats. Therefore, we chose to examine the youth league Ungsvenskarna’s social media and map who is expressing hate and making threats.

Among the many hateful comments are also some from elected officials in the Social Democratic unions.

SD Woman: ‘Only made me even more motivated’

Samnytt has been in contact with Victoria Raouf Schölander (SD), who received the death threat, to hear more about the incident.

How are you feeling after the incident?

– Of course I feel worried. This person wrote this from a regular Facebook profile; he was not anonymous. Had he been anonymous, maybe he would have realized that what he is writing is criminal and wrong, but when he writes it openly, it feels like he stands by it and believes it’s right, she tells Samnytt and continues.

– This could indicate that he believes himself to be above the law, that he has an immense hatred against SD, and that political violence is therefore justified. It might indicate being very radicalized by the violent left.

Schölander (SD) continues by saying she believes the man wanted to scare her into silence and make her doubt her commitment. But the incident has instead made her even more motivated to represent the Sweden Democrats.

Have you reported the threat to the police?

– I reported this on Monday, July 6th. The police conducted a brief interview by phone. They asked me to send over all the screenshots I had taken so I did that, she tells Samnytt and continues.

– Everyone in society, whether they are politically active or not, needs to stand up against leftist violence and violent rhetoric. Democracy is for all of us, and anti-democratic forces should not be allowed to take root in society.

She concludes by explaining the support she received from friends and acquaintances after the event.

– I have received an enormous amount of kind support, which has calmed my nerves a bit. It’s wonderful to see how many people care and how people I don’t even know have reached out via Facebook. Amazing people. It warms my heart, concludes Schölander (SD).
