Syrian Boy Raped and Humiliated Girl in Public Restroom

The then 15-year-old boy with an immigrant background from Syria had a 14-year-old girlfriend but was dissatisfied with how the relationship was developing. According to the prosecutor, it was to punish and humiliate the girl that he, on several occasions, including raped her. The penalty for these crimes is seven years in prison, but he gets away with one year of youth supervision.

At the end of April, Samnytt reported that it all began in December last year when the boy assaulted the girl at a school in Gothenburg, where he is suspected of having kicked and shoved her as well as putting her in a chokehold so that she had trouble breathing.

At a library, he then allegedly forced her to get down on all fours and say that she was his whore or a dog. Using violence and threats to spread videos of her, the girl was then forced, at a bus terminal, to perform oral sex on him. Both incidents were filmed by the boy.

A few days later, the boy forced the girl to cut off a piece of her hair and then committed another rape against her, which is also considered aggravated. This time, again at the bus terminal, he strangled her to unconsciousness and spat on her. This incident was also filmed.

7 Years in Prison Turned into Supervision

The Gothenburg District Court has now announced its verdict against the Syrian who was born in Sweden to parents who immigrated from Syria. He is convicted of aggravated rape of a child, rape of a child, exploitation of a child for sexual posing, unlawful coercion, child pornography offenses, and two counts of violation of a restraining order.

The district court assesses that the total penalty value of the crimes corresponds to about seven years in prison. However, since the boy is a minor—and is now 16 years old—he is sentenced to one year of youth supervision. He must also pay 520,000 SEK in damages to the assaulted girl.
