Following the Left Party, it is now the Green Party that is shaken as their top name on the parliamentary list has been pushed out by a lower-ranked candidate, who surpassed them through preferential votes.
On Friday, Samnytt reported that all electoral districts in Dalarna County had been counted and that Somali Mohamed Abdukardir Ali secured the parliamentary seat from the Left Party’s lead candidate Kajsa Fredholm, who is also the party’s spokesperson on climate policy.
Ali received 648 personal votes, compared to Fredholm’s 356. Thus, the top Left Party candidate was never particularly close to taking the seat.

A similar situation has arisen in Eskilstuna. There, the Green Party’s top parliamentary candidate, incumbent MP Linus Lakso, has been ousted by Mohamed Abdukani, who was in fourth place on the list and has an immigrant background from Somalia.
With 349 personal votes from Eskilstuna residents, Mohamed Abdukani surpasses the Green Party’s top name Linus Lakso, who received 189 preferential votes in the parliamentary election.

And within the party, it appears they are not prepared to settle for this, if Eskilstuna-Kuriren’s sources are to be believed. A source for the newspaper claims that Abdukani may face pressure to give up his seat in favor of Lakso.
– I think Mohamed will face heavy pressure from the party to give up his seat to Lakso, the source told the newspaper.
