Samnytt founder and Sweden Democrats (SD) politician Kent Ekeroth has been reported to the police for the opinion crime of “incitement against a population group” by a local politician in western Sweden following an interview with Swedish Radio. In the interview, Ekeroth said that the Social Democrats and other left-leaning parties have brought in “voting cattle from abroad” who, according to his reasoning, could ultimately influence election results, as several opinion polls have shown that voters with foreign backgrounds are more likely to vote for those parties.

It was on Monday that Kent Ekeroth, SD’s top candidate in Dalarna and opposition councilor in the region, was interviewed by Swedish Radio about the election results, where the Sweden Democrats lost ground while the red-green block was leading the vote count. Ekeroth then claimed that the “immigrant vote” appeared to be deciding the election and elaborated on his reasoning.

This caused the Swedish Radio reporter to interrupt him several times and question his conclusions. Among other things, she claimed that Ekeroth knows nothing about how easily citizenship has been granted. When he responded to this, she wanted him to “drop” the discussion.

– Now you are using very strong language, she also said.

Ekeroth’s statements were based on the fact that non-European immigrants tend to vote left in significant numbers, particularly for the Social Democrats (S) and the Left Party (V). This is something that even Swedish public television has reported on.

Reported to the police for “incitement against a population group”

As early as October 2022, shortly after the Tidö government took office, Ekeroth urged the party leadership of SD to work to halt the issuing of new citizenships, referring to the idea that the Swedish people are losing control over their own country.

Since then, year after year and in countless opinion pieces, he has repeated the same demands and reminded the party of the need to act.

Today, several media outlets report that Ekeroth has been reported to the police by a “local politician in western Sweden” who believes that his statements on national radio constitute incitement against a population group.

Åkesson: Hard to win elections in the future

During a press conference today, the Sweden Democrats’ party leader Jimmie Åkesson speculated about the background to the election result. But he did not want to claim that the new citizens decided the election.

– Of course it could also have decided the outcome, but I think it is too soon to draw such a conclusion.

He went on to emphasize the future risk for elections if the current trend continues.

– If we continue granting citizenship to a great many people from this part of the world, and if it keeps being the case that they tend to vote for the left by eighty, ninety percent, then it will be very hard to win elections in the future.
