In her May Day speech, Magdalena Andersson promised to be “tough as nails” on gang crime if she returns to power – despite the same problem growing during her own time at the helm.
The speech, delivered at Norra Bantorget in central Stockholm, began with her expressing her view of a country she believes is less prepared for a turbulent :censored:6:cdd6bbaa89: situation and that Sweden needs “more decisive leadership.”
– I love this country for what we have built it into, the Social Democratic leader boasted to the audience.
A central element of her message was a comprehensive initiative for the early years in school. The Social Democrats want to invest SEK 3.4 billion to increase teacher density and reduce class sizes, with the aim of strengthening students’ basic skills in, among other things, reading and mathematics.
On the issue of crime, Magdalena Andersson signaled a continued hardline stance against gang crime and again promoted the proposal for a so-called mafia law.

According to Andersson, a government led by her would take strong action against criminal gangs through such a legislative package – a proposal described as being inspired by, or largely similar to, initiatives from the Sweden Democrats.
– A government led by me will be tough as nails.

In closing, she delivered a direct appeal to voters, emphasizing that she does not promise everything to everyone, but that ordinary people come first.
– I am seeking your trust to become Sweden’s prime minister, and to build a decisive government that takes this country seriously.
