A suspected hand grenade was discovered in central Malmö on Friday, resulting in a major police operation, extensive cordons, and a public warning (VMA). The object was later detonated in a controlled explosion by the national bomb squad.

The alert came shortly after noon, when passersby noticed the object and contacted the police. Soon after, the area around Föreningsgatan and Amiralsgatan, as well as parts of Drottninggatan, was cordoned off.
