It seems to have become something of an annual tradition in immigrant-heavy countries in Europe when New Year’s Eve arrives. Scenes reminiscent of war, with New Year’s fireworks aimed at people and buildings and riot-like situations around Europe’s cities. New Year’s Eve 2025 was no exception.

Some readers experience problems viewing embedded video clips from X. We are working on resolving this.

A viral clip shows a German streamer walking the streets in Cologne during New Year’s night.

This clip appears to show Dutch firefighters arriving to extinguish a fire during New Year’s celebrations. Migrant gangs then lie in ambush and start throwing stones and fireworks at the firefighters, who are forced to flee the scene.

This video is said to show Berlin, where an X user laments: “What has happened to my Berlin? This is simply just sad.” Another user comments “They didn’t flee the war. They are the war.”

Again in the Netherlands, the Vondelkerk church, located next to the city’s largest park, caught fire. The cause is under investigation, but the BBC reports at the same time about how Dutch police faced “unprecedented” violence during the New Year’s celebrations.

A user notes how the cityscape has changed in Frankfurt, Germany and shows a video clip from New Year’s night. He concludes by writing “Insanity”.

In the city of Maarssen, located in the municipality of Utrecht, also in the Netherlands, with a population of around 40,000, this scene unfolded.

England is no exception either. In Birmingham, these scenes are said to have taken place.

More chaotic scenes from Berlin.

The Mirror confirms the chaos seen in the videos. They write that Germany’s New Year celebrations descended into chaos with over 400 arrests in Berlin as illegal fireworks were used as weapons, leaving dozens injured, including a seven-year-old boy who required emergency surgery.

During the evening, violent clashes also took place in trouble spots such as Neukölln, Kreuzberg, and Moabit, where crowds bombarded rescue services with rockets and improvised explosives.

The large X account Lord Bebo simply wrote: “Migrants in Lisbon … blasted automatic guns for New Year’s celebrations”.

An X account compares New Year’s Eve celebrations in Poland, which has had very low immigration, with Germany, which has had very high.
