This autumn’s election is between the left bloc — S, MP, V, and C — and the Tidö parties. However, a left-wing victory would mean a tax and fee shock for ordinary Swedes. At least according to a new web application where you can calculate an estimate of how much more it would cost for you and your household.

Moderate Party member Hanif Bali has developed the app and describes it as follows:

It’s called ‘Skattesmäll’ (Tax Blow) and calculates what your taxes might be after negotiations among the red-green parties. Sometimes S wins, sometimes V and MP, but either way, you lose.

In the app, you can choose a simple calculation by just entering your monthly salary, any mortgages, and how much you spend on fuel each month.

The app assumes average Swedish statistics for everything else. If you want something a bit more advanced, you can also fill in your savings, your home’s value, the number of flights per year, whether you regularly eat meat, and how often you fly. No data is stored or sent anywhere, as emphasized in the app.

You’ll then get an estimated tax blow.

Calculate how much more tax you could pay if S, V, and MP govern after the election. They don’t have a joint platform — so the outcome is decided in the negotiation room.
