Once again, U.S. President Donald Trump has been the target of a suspected assassination attempt. During the annual Correspondents’ Dinner in Washington D.C., the event was stormed by a 31-year-old armed man, a former teacher, who reportedly intended to attack Trump and other ministers in his administration.
The incident occurred during the night to Sunday, Swedish time, when Donald Trump was the main figure at the event and was scheduled to give a speech at the dinner. In the middle of the gathering, the Secret Service, together with other law enforcement agencies, intervened after a threatening situation arose.
The 31-year-old teacher Cole Tomas Allen from California, who was heavily armed with a shotgun, pistol, and knives, managed to get into the building despite extensive security measures. According to reports, this was made possible by the fact that he was staying at the hotel where the dinner took place.
American media reports that several shots were fired inside the venue and that security officers quickly acted to evacuate Trump, his wife Melania Trump, Vice President JD Vance, as well as other cabinet members, including Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth.

During the attack, a Secret Service agent was injured but survived thanks to his bulletproof vest. According to reports, the perpetrator admitted that his intention was to attack the Trump administration.
President Trump later commented on the incident and praised the swift action of the security forces. He described the suspect as a dangerous and mentally unstable individual and emphasized that the situation could have had much more serious consequences if security had not responded so effectively.
According to American police, there are currently no indications that more people were involved in the attack.
