In a video post on Friday, climate and Gaza activist Greta Thunberg delivered sharp criticism of the Tidö government’s policies. In the video, where she appeared both frustrated and upset, she accused Sweden of having become a racist country and urged people to mobilize against the government. She also made clear her support for a more extensive immigration policy.
Greta Thunberg has published the video, which at the time of writing has gathered around 1.6 million views, with the message: “We need to pay attention to what is happening in Sweden right now.”
Greta Thunberg begins by claiming that the image many still hold of Sweden as a progressive nation marked by solidarity and humanitarian values has long been outdated. She then calls on her followers to mobilize and put pressure on the Tidö government in the coming period, as Sweden approaches the autumn election.

In the video, she delivers strong criticism against the so-called teenage deportations, arguing that young migrants are being sent back to countries where they have hardly any connection, and which, according to her, are not safe for them to return to. Thunberg also states that “the right to seek asylum is a fundamental right.”
– And this happens while Sweden is becoming increasingly hostile and racist in its migration policy. The Swedish government is even negotiating with the Taliban to facilitate deportations, just to mention one example.
She concludes with a clear message to her millions of followers.
– Put pressure on the Swedish government.
