An additional 18-year-old man has been arrested following the brutal assault of a 47-year-old man in the tourist town of Ayia Napa, Cyprus. All four suspects hold Swedish passports and, according to Cypriot media, are reported to have connections to various countries of origin.

The investigation into the serious assault in Cyprus has progressed further after police detained the fourth suspect.

The man was apprehended at Larnaca International Airport while attempting to leave the country and was subsequently brought before court for a detention hearing. He, along with three other 18-year-olds, is suspected of aggravated assault of a 47-year-old man in Ayia Napa.

The first three suspects were arrested soon after the incident and remanded in custody, while police continued their investigation. According to Cypriot media, surveillance footage from the scene played a crucial role in identifying the suspects. Police are still investigating the exact roles the four men played during the attack.

The fourth man, like the other three, is said to be 18 years old and a Swedish citizen. According to reports in Cypriot media, he has a Chilean background.

The other three suspects are reported to have backgrounds in Albania, Iraq, and Chile respectively. These details have been reported by Cypriot media, citing information from police and local news sources.

Seriously Injured

The 47-year-old man suffered serious injuries during the assault and was treated in hospital after the attack. According to reports from Cyprus, he sustained severe head injuries after falling to the ground.

The case has also drawn attention due to the way the suspects have been described in media from different countries. Swedish reports have mainly emphasized that the men are Swedish citizens, while Cypriot media have also included information about their family backgrounds.

The four men remain suspects and have not yet been convicted. The ongoing legal process will determine the extent of each individual’s responsibility for the attack.
