The European Commission plans to create a completely new intelligence service under President Ursula von der Leyen. The unit will be placed within the Commission’s secretariat and will gather, analyze, and coordinate information from the intelligence services of member states to strengthen the EU’s security capacity, according to the new supranational initiative for the union.

The EU leadership in Brussels has begun work on establishing the spy agency and plans to recruit officials from all member states’ security services for temporary assignments, to use the information for common purposes, the initiative is being promoted.
