A person who believes that the school has gone too far has reported to the Parliamentary Ombudsman where the case will be investigated.

It is students at a primary and middle school in Skövde who have been given a form to sign. The form concerns consent for the school’s principal, under certain circumstances, to be allowed to search the students’ bags. It may also involve confiscation of items.

According to the Education Act, the principal already has the authority to do this – however, the issue that the reporter has taken offense to is not the search itself but considers the form to be inappropriately designed.

According to the report to the Parliamentary Ombudsman, the document had the heading “Code of Conduct”. The Ombudsman has received the report and will now examine the case more closely and wants to know, among other things, the purpose of the form.
