VIDEO: Police Now Take Action Against Climate Extremists

The climate extremist group Restore Wetlands has changed tactics—from blocking roads and disrupting traffic to targeting the country’s farmers. Now, the police authorities have started to take action against activists who for a long time have been able to seize farm machinery and disrupt work in the fields.

Earlier this week, Samnytt reported that around 40 activists tried to stop peat extraction in Grimsås, which once again led to operations being halted.

According to the peat company Neova, the protests have escalated compared to previous years and have involved blockades, vandalism, and sabotage that risk having long-term consequences for production.

Mats Henriksson, Neova’s permit manager, stated that activists ran toward the machinery, causing the operators to leave their vehicles. Afterward, several people climbed onto the machines and remained there, while others filled in the drainage ditches around the site.

A new method that, according to Neova, has been used during this year’s actions is spreading weed seeds over large areas of the peat field. Since the top layer of peat is used for cultivation purposes, there is concern that the land will become unusable.

Police arrived – but left

At the same time, Henriksson said that the police responded to the scene, filed a report, but then left the area. This was due to a lack of resources to intervene.

– We have been told that the police do not have the training or equipment to safely remove people from such heights, so intervention units must handle it, he told TN.

But now the police have started to take action against the group. In new video clips published by Restore Wetlands, several police officers can be seen at the scene, removing activists who are trying to stay on the machines and spread weed seeds.
