A 32-year-old Swedish man is being treated for life-threatening injuries after a violent incident in Copenhagen on Tuesday evening. According to reports, the man attempted to break up a fight at a bar when he was subjected to serious violence.

The incident took place in the Islands Brygge district, where many had gathered to watch World Cup matches on a big screen. Among the games shown during the evening were Norway vs. Ivory Coast and Sweden’s round of 16 match against France.

Shortly after 9 p.m., Copenhagen police were alerted to the scene after a commotion broke out. When patrols arrived, they found the severely injured Swede, who was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

According to media reports, the 32-year-old man had intervened in an attempt to stop the fight before he himself was attacked. Danish media have previously reported that the man is from Småland and that his condition has been described as very critical. His family has been notified.

Suspect Still Not Apprehended

Two days after the incident, no arrest has been made. Copenhagen police have published a photo of the suspect and issued a public appeal in hopes of receiving tips from the public.

The police state that they are aware of the man’s identity and urge him to turn himself in. At the same time, they are requesting information from anyone who may know the whereabouts of the suspect.

According to the Danish newspaper Ekstra Bladet, three people left the scene after the incident.

Despite significant attention surrounding the case, Copenhagen police are unwilling to provide any further comments on the investigation or the injured man’s condition. The agency has also not released any official classification of the crime.
