A new opinion poll shows that a majority of Swedes distance themselves from the military actions taken by the US and Israel against Iran. The survey, conducted by Indikator Opinion on behalf of SVT, also highlights clear differences in how various groups in society perceive the conflict.
A total of 1,463 people participated in the survey, which was carried out in early March. The results show that only 32 percent of respondents fully or partially agree with the statement: “It was right for the US and Israel to attack Iran.”
A significantly larger share, 59 percent, say they “hardly agree” or “do not agree at all.”
Perceptions of the conflict vary considerably depending on gender, age, and political affiliation. Women in Sweden, as well as people under 30, are generally more critical of the actions of the US and Israel than men.
The most pronounced dividing line, however, is found within politics. Among supporters of the Tidö parties, 57 percent believe the attacks were fully or partially justified. Among opposition party sympathizers, the corresponding figure is only 15 percent.

Strong Opposition to Swedish Military Involvement
When it comes to Sweden’s possible role in the conflict, public opinion is much more unified. An overwhelming majority, 81 percent, oppose Sweden providing military support to the US or Israel.
Only 14 percent are fully or partially in favor of such involvement.

Although there are some differences between groups, there is no support for military involvement in any of the categories surveyed, reports the national broadcaster.
Data collection was conducted via Indikator Opinion’s randomly recruited Sweden Panel during the period 5–16 March 2026. The participation rate was 38 percent.
The 1,463 responses were weighted after collection based on gender, age, and how participants voted in the 2022 parliamentary election, to provide as representative a picture of Swedish public opinion as possible.
