Documents ahead of the Sweden Democrats’ national congress later in November reveal that the nomination committee proposes that Member of Parliament Jessica Stegrud should be removed from the party’s board.

One of the matters to be decided during the congress on November 20-23 is the election of a new party board. In the proposal put forward by the nomination committee, Jessica Stegrud is not included. Instead, according to GP, Member of Parliament Dennis Dioukarev is proposed to become the new regular member.

Stegrud also seems to be removed from the top of the Sweden Democrats’ proposed list for next year’s parliamentary elections:

Stegrud has been involved in several high-profile events recently – including being attacked by an aggressive Palestinian extremist outside the parliamentary premises in Stockholm. She has also been subjected to a strong media campaign where, as usual, facts have been “liberally” used.

Successful campaigns

Party Secretary Mattias Bäckström Johansson does not rule out that the campaigns may have had an impact.

– It is of course not inconceivable that the recent events are something that has been taken into account. But it should also be remembered that the person entered the party board during the time she was a Member of the European Parliament, it is a different role that she now has as a Member of Parliament, he tells DN.

In a Facebook post, Stegrud comments on her removal:

We all have different strengths. Mine are probably my genuine interest in people, analyzing and highlighting what needs to change. As well as communicating. That I am now proposed to leave a somewhat more organizational role in the party board, I see as undramatic. It will give me more time to focus on what I do best and prefer.

The nomination committee also proposes that I am placed 44th on the parliamentary list. Which most likely means another 4 years in parliament and continued hard work to get Sweden back on track.

I note that my district wanted to see me in first place in the constituency, something that warms my now Skåne heart and gives me a little extra strength to enter a campaign that will be extremely tough in every way.
