Filmed naked girls at school - now the 'pedophile hunter' is sentenced to prison

22-year-old Edwin Bengtsson in Örnsköldsvik is sentenced to three years and three months in prison after secretly filming naked girls under the age of 15. This is the decision of the Ångermanland District Court.

Bengtsson is part of a group calling themselves ‘Pedo hunting Sweden.’ The group seeks out men they believe are pedophiles, and then assaults them.

Secretly filmed naked girls

Now Edwin Bengtsson himself is convicted of sexual offenses against children. He is convicted of aggravated unlawful intrusion into privacy, offensive photography, and child pornography offenses, after secretly filming underage girls at a high school in Örnsköldsvik.

The 22-year-old ‘pedophile hunter’ was working on the school’s heating installation last December. During that time, he took the opportunity to hide his mobile phone in a shower area at the school, in order to film the girls while they were showering.

Edwin Bengtsson denies the charges, despite having the films on his mobile phone, and claims that he was not even at the high school at the time. However, his employer claims that he was there, and the district court believes it is unlikely that someone else could have filmed the naked girls.

‘In addition, it can be heard that the person filming is breathing heavily, as if nervous or excited,’ the court writes in its judgment.

Also convicted of aggravated assault

A total of three girls were secretly filmed in the shower. Their parents had to identify their children themselves when questioned by the police.

‘That’s my daughter!’ one of them says during the questioning.

In addition to filming the girls, Edwin Bengtsson is convicted of aggravated assault, assault, and sabotage against emergency services. This is because he, together with other members of ‘Pedo hunting Sweden,’ assaulted individuals the group claimed were pedophiles, and vandalized a police car.

In the same case, 31-year-old Örnsköldsvik resident Nichlas Carlström is sentenced to one year and eleven months in prison for aggravated assault and sabotage against emergency services. Both Bengtsson and Carlström have previous convictions.

Furthermore, three other men are also convicted in the case for assaulting individuals accused of pedophilia, two of whom are sentenced to prison and one to juvenile care.
