Stacey Sharples used the internet to meet men, often accompanying them home, only to later call the police and falsely claim she had been raped. Now she is in prison herself.
When the 31-year-old appeared before Bolton Crown Court on Monday, she pleaded guilty to ten counts. The court heard how Sharples found her victims on dating sites such as Plenty of Fish, Badoo, and Facebook Dating. After leaving their homes, she often called the police and alleged that she had been raped, even in some cases where there had been no sexual activity at all.

Sharples also claimed that she had been assaulted by nine men behind a library in December 2013 and made three further false allegations in 2017, four in 2018, and eleven in 2019.
In April 2024, she denied 19 charges of false accusation but admitted the new ten cases.
Judge Nicholas Clarke sentenced her to four and a half years in prison.
– Each of these men is completely innocent of any criminal behavior, he told the woman.
– Their lives have been destroyed by the accusations. It was simply a catalogue of malicious lies.
He also labeled Sharples as a “sexual offender” for her accusations, which ruined the lives of many victims.

Lost Job
One of the woman’s victims tells The Sun that he met Sharples in 2019 on Badoo, where her profile had a topless photo. In her messages, she seemed to be after only one thing. She spent about 20 minutes in his home, they kissed, and then she suddenly left.

Afterwards, Sharples called and claimed that he had hurt her. Then she called the police and alleged that the 40-year-old man had raped her. The accusation, among other things, led to him losing his job. Others had problems with families who distanced themselves after the false claims.
Praises the Men
Detective Inspector Steven Gilliland, who investigated the cases, praises the men’s courage.
– I want to commend the strength of these men, who have endured an experience no one should ever have to go through, and have done so with dignity. I hope that today they feel a sense of justice for what happened to them.
