A powerful explosion occurred in Stuvsta, Huddinge, south of Stockholm during the night to Monday. It was a car bomb.

The emergency services received calls at around 2:30 am and several police patrols were dispatched to the residential area. The explosion happened at a car parked next to a house driveway, according to news agency TT.

The vehicle suffered extensive damage and caught fire after the detonation. Despite the powerful blast, no injuries have been reported. Police have cordoned off the area and a large operation is still ongoing.

The national bomb squad has been called in to examine the area and secure any evidence from the explosion. A technical investigation is being carried out at the same time as the police are conducting interviews and reviewing surveillance footage.

According to police reports, a person left the scene on an electric scooter immediately after the incident. No suspect has yet been arrested, but search operations are underway.

The investigation concerns aggravated public destruction and offences against the law on explosive and flammable goods. The material damage appears to be primarily limited to the destroyed car.
