The Center Party’s scandal-ridden politician Fredrick Federley was elected in 2025 to the party’s district board in Dalarna, after five years outside politics. It is now clear that he is one of the Center Party’s absolute top names ahead of this fall’s election and is likely to be elected to both the municipal and regional councils.
It has been five years since Federley abruptly left top-level politics after a scandal that unfolded when the website Stoppa Pressarna revealed that Federley was living with a man on his farm in Gagnef, Dalarna, who had been convicted by the Linköping District Court in 2014 for a series of serious sexual offenses against children.
This led him to leave his then current assignments—among them, as a member of the EU Parliament. Now, however, he is back in the political arena, as he appears on the party’s lists for both the municipality and the regional council in Dalarna.
For Gagnef Municipality, he is in ninth place on the party’s ballot—in the previous election, the party won seven seats. Should the results remain about the same, he will thus be elected at least as a substitute in the municipal council on September 13.
May Become Regional Commissioner
Federley is not only running for the municipality; he is one of the Center Party’s absolute top names in the upcoming election for the regional council in Dalarna. Despite previous scandals, he is making a comeback as the third name on the party’s list. He could therefore become a salaried regional commissioner after the election.
In a Facebook post published on his private page, he has shared a picture of himself with the caption, “The Center Party is the guarantee of a strong government in the center,” along with the comment, “That’s how it is!”
