An employee at a care home in Umeå has been suspended from work after suspicions of unauthorized photography of a resident at the facility.

The incident is said to have occurred during a night shift at the beginning of October. Suspicions arose after a care assistant learned about the alleged photography and raised the alarm.

It was then relatives of the affected person who filed a police report. According to SVT, the suspected employee has been suspended from their duties while the incident is being investigated.

The municipality’s unit manager, Sanna Jonson, states that it is still unclear what the employee might have photographed, and whether any unauthorized photography has actually taken place at all.

The affected resident has been informed of the suspicions and is being offered support through counseling due to the alleged photography.
