Rawa “the Kurdish Fox” Majid’s alleged right-hand man, the gangsta rapper Mohamed “Moewgli” Mohdhi – who was previously profiled by Sveriges Radio P3 – has been arrested in Tunisia. The arrest comes shortly after Justice Minister Gunnar Strömmer (M) visited the country to strengthen cooperation on extraditions and combating cross-border crime.

According to SVT, the arrest took place on Friday after Tunisian authorities located him in the country, where he is said to have stayed for an extended period while being wanted by Swedish authorities.

28-year-old Mohamed “Moewgli” Mohdhi grew up in Sweden, with parents originally from Tunisia. He has been identified as a central figure within the criminal Foxtrot network, led by internationally wanted Kurd Rawa Majid. Earlier this year, he was added to Europol’s list of particularly prioritized wanted persons, so-called “high value targets.”

In Sweden, Mohamed Mohdhi has been remanded in absentia on suspicion of multiple serious crimes, including drug offenses and several violent crimes. He is suspected, among other things, of having a connection to the fatal shooting of a 15-year-old boy in a sushi restaurant in Skogås in 2023. According to police theories, he may also have played a central role in the wave of violence during which a 15-year-old girl is suspected of having carried out several assignments in the spring.

Mohdhi first became known within Swedish hip hop and has had several popular songs on Spotify and Youtube. At the same time, state radio has promoted his music on the P3 channel.

At the end of April, Justice Minister Gunnar Strömmer visited the North African country together with Deputy National Police Commissioner Stefan Hector. The purpose of the trip was to strengthen cooperation to enable the extradition of gang criminals residing in Tunisia and at the same time conducting and leading criminal operations in Sweden. It is now stated that the effort has produced concrete results.

Crimes Continue Despite Arrests

But despite the ongoing arrests of influential figures within the criminal network, Foxtrot continues to be described as Sweden’s most dominant gang. According to the police’s national operations center, previously dominant groups Dalen and Rumba have been significantly weakened following several high-profile arrests abroad. Rumba leader Ismail “The Strawberry” Abdo was among those arrested in Turkey, and Mikael “The Greek” Ahlström Tenezos in Mexico.

Despite several crackdowns on Foxtrot, the police assess that the network still retains the ability to coordinate acts of violence throughout the country. Authorities say that the group not only controls traditional narcotics crime but also organizes and sells violent acts to other criminal actors.

Police also estimate that around 17,000 people are active in the Swedish gang environment. Although several leading figures have been arrested, authorities warn that the violence still risks flaring up in new constellations and smaller groups around the country.
