Woman was going out with the dog – seriously injured in bombing

According to her daughter, the 68-year-old woman lived for her dog Fia, and the two were on their way out for a walk at lunchtime on Tuesday when there was an explosion in the entrance in Tyresö. Yet another bombing that would affect more innocent people, as it turned out.

The woman was seriously injured, and a few days later, she was still sedated in the hospital, still unaware that her dog died in the bombing. Her condition is considered stable but with a long way to go. She will also undergo another surgery as more shrapnel has been found in her esophagus.

– She is very injured. Especially in her face, they have stitched a lot, her nose was very badly injured, says the daughter to Aftonbladet.

While the woman was taken away by ambulance, a neighbor drove the dog to an animal hospital but it succumbed to its injuries.

– Fia means everything to her. She lives for her dog. We dread telling her about this, says the daughter.

Safe area

Exactly what exploded is still unknown, as well as who placed the explosive device there.

The daughter describes the area where her mother lives as safe and pleasant. She is angry that her mother has fallen victim to something so unnecessary and thinks that if she had come out into the entrance just a few seconds later, maybe both of them would have survived.

The bombing took place in an apartment building in the same area where earlier this year, the Security Service (Säpo) conducted a raid on a mosque. Two brothers and two other men are indicted for participating in a terrorist organization after pledging allegiance to the terrorist group IS in Somalia. Three of them are also suspected of preparing for terrorist offenses and serious weapons offenses.
