On Monday afternoon local time, a shooting broke out at an indoor ice rink in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, USA. Several people are dead, including the shooter. Once again, the perpetrator appears to be a biological man who believes himself to be a woman.

The incident occurred during a game between two high school teams at Dennis M. Lynch Arena when the shooter opened fire. Two people were found dead in the arena, one of whom was the shooter, and a third person died at the hospital. An additional three people were injured.

According to Pawtucket Police Chief Tina Goncalves, the incident may have stemmed from a family dispute, and it appears the perpetrator shot themselves.

Police confirm that the shooter is Robert Dorgan, born in 1969, who also used the name Roberta and the surname Esposito. According to court records, the shooter had a history of family disputes and legal troubles related to their gender identity.

Goncalves declined to reveal information about the victims but stated that the shooter went to Dennis M. Lynch Arena to watch a hockey game in which a family member was playing.

Threats on Social Media

According to the New York Post, Dorgan shot four family members and a family friend before turning the weapon on himself. The night before, the individual, who underwent gender reassignment surgery in 2020, wrote on social media: “Keep criticizing us. But don’t wonder why we go BERSERK.”

In 2020, his ex-wife filed for divorce citing “gender reassignment surgery, narcissistic traits + personality disorder traits,” according to a court application obtained by the local newspaper. The grounds were later changed to “irreconcilable differences that have caused an immediate breakdown of the marriage.”

A person who intervened probably prevented what could have been an even worse massacre.
