The parents of a teenage girl who was brutally attacked by a group of youths at Cabot Circus, a shopping area in Bristol, UK, say the incident has left her so traumatized that she has not attended school since. Video footage shows how the lone girl receives punches and kicks.

The emotional incident occurred on Wednesday, March 4. The attack is believed to be linked to a ‘school war’ trend on social media in which students are encouraged to fight one another.

The girl’s parents say that she feels betrayed by the fact that no witnesses intervened.

“She was seen walking around Cabot with, you know, 25 people following her,” her father told the BBC.

“For 25 minutes they followed her… Nobody wanted to help. Nobody wanted to ask if she was safe?”

Eventually, she was taken in by some students into an apartment.

The incident has left the father devastated and made it impossible for him to work as the video from the event plays over and over in his head.

It was at a bus stop where the daughter was first prevented from getting off by a group of youths. She then sought refuge in a Zara store, and after not receiving help there, she left again and was attacked.

Five teenagers—three girls and two boys—were arrested but later released on bail. The crimes they were arrested for included, among other things, racially motivated violence—the girl was British and the rest appeared to have a migrant background.
