In a video clip that has been widely circulated on social media, former SVT profile and investigative journalist Janne Josefsson delivers sharp criticism against what he describes as the Social Democrats’ hypocrisy regarding the so-called forced integration. According to Josefsson, Social Democratic leaders should themselves set an example – by moving to these problem areas.

Forced integration has become a much-debated topic ahead of this fall’s election. The background is that the Social Democrats have presented it as their political solution to the problems that have emerged in Sweden through their – and also the Moderates’ – mass immigration policies over many years.

According to the Social Democrats, it’s now about creating ‘meetings between people of different backgrounds’ and in the long run breaking down the socioeconomic and cultural barriers that are seen as keeping people apart. The idea is to reduce segregation through a changed housing policy and more mixed residential areas.

Critics, however, argue that the project in practice amounts to a form of so-called forced mixing, where established villa areas are gradually densified or supplemented with other forms of housing – something that, according to opponents, changes the character of the areas and risks simply spreading the problems further, without those who already live there having had any real influence, and in the long term, moving all of Sweden toward more areas becoming so-called vulnerable areas.

“Not sane – they won’t manage it”

A video clip from journalist Janne Josefsson’s appearance on the SVT program Politikbyrån on September 10, 2025, has gone viral on social media. In the clip, he points out that Social Democratic politicians are happy to propose sweeping solutions but have not led by example when it comes to being part of the solution themselves.

The video clip has recently gained renewed and wide attention on several social media platforms, after being shared by, among others, Susanna Silfverskiöld, press secretary to Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson (M), and has since received thousands of likes and shares.

– That they come up with this idea to mix the population now, after having turned a blind eye for decades… It’s not sane, and they are not going to manage it. Absolutely not, says Josefsson.

Persson Wanted to Live in Rosengård – But Bought a Manor House

The experienced journalist gives an example of when he spoke with then-Prime Minister Göran Persson (S) and asked if he could consider living in Rosengård.

– Then they should show this themselves. Social Democrats in parliament should move out to Fittja then. I asked Göran Persson when he was prime minister if he could consider living in Rosengård. Then he went and bought a manor house. I mean, that’s such double standards.
