Greenland belongs to the United States, and Denmark must immediately begin negotiations to relinquish its control over the island. That’s what U.S. President Donald Trump said in a speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos.
– It is our territory! he says.
The World Economic Forum’s (WEF) annual meeting is taking place in Davos, Switzerland, from January 19 to 23. There, power brokers from all over the world, including more than 60 heads of state and government leaders, meet to discuss current :censored:6:cdd6bbaa89: issues.
One of those present is Sweden’s Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson (M).

Trump’s Speech
On Wednesday afternoon, it’s the turn of U.S. President Donald Trump to address the forum. He opens his speech by claiming that things are going very well for the United States, thanks to him.
– We have growth that I think our country has never seen before. Maybe no country has ever seen it before, he says.
– People are doing very well. They are very happy with me!
Trump claims, if you are to believe him, to be an expert in many things. He says he is praised by his own military commanders for his strategic expertise.
– A military expert told me: “Everything you have done has been so perfectly executed.” I said: “I know.”
He alternates between praising himself and attacking his predecessor Joe Biden—a president whose policies, according to Trump, led to hardship but who, the country, since a year ago, is now experiencing an “economic miracle.”
Europe Headed in the Wrong Direction
Trump also links his predecessor to the policies being pursued in Europe, policies he describes as disastrous.

– I love Europe, and I want to see it do well. But it’s not headed in the right direction! says the American president.
He describes Europe as a collection of countries with large public sectors, uncontrolled immigration, record budget and trade deficits, and an obsession with climate threats—a result of policies pursued in recent decades.

– The consensus was that so-called dirty jobs and heavy industry should be sent somewhere else and that cheap energy should be replaced by a new green scam, says Trump.
– That countries could be supported by importing a new and entirely different population from distant lands.
But according to the American president, that is a recipe for disaster.
– Large parts of our world are being destroyed right before our eyes, and the leaders don’t even understand what’s happening. And those who do understand, do nothing, says Donald Trump.
New Secret Super Weapon
Earlier this month, Venezuela’s President Nicolás Maduro was captured in a U.S. military operation. That successful military operation is also a topic Trump discusses in Davos.

– Now our country and our world face greater risks than ever before—because of missiles, because of nuclear weapons, because of weapons I can’t even talk about, he begins.
– Two weeks ago, we saw weapons no one had ever heard of. They couldn’t fire a single shot at us, continues Trump as he describes the events in Caracas.
– They say: What happened? Everything became confused. They said: “We have them in our sights. Pull the trigger!” But nothing happened. No anti-aircraft missiles were launched. One went up about ten meters before crashing again.
The American president hints that Venezuela’s air defense was ineffective against U.S. aircraft and helicopters.
– Those defense systems were manufactured by Russia and China. So I guess they’ll need to go back to the drawing board, says Donald Trump.
Greenland: “It Is Our Territory”
Trump then moves straight to the next country he wants to conquer: Greenland. He says he has “great respect for Denmark,” but the Danes need to give up control over the Arctic island.
He dismisses speculation that it’s because of rare earth minerals that the U.S. wants Greenland.
– That’s not why we need it. We need it for strategic national security and for international security, says Trump.
– This enormous unsecured island is, in fact, part of North America. The northern front of the Western Hemisphere. It is our territory!

Trump believes it was a mistake for the U.S. to return Greenland to Denmark after World War II, though he understands they “had different principles then.” He also argues that only the U.S. can defend and develop the island.
– All we are asking for is to take Greenland, including proper title and ownership. You need ownership to defend it. We cannot defend it on a lease. Legally, it cannot fully be defended that way, says the American president.
– And secondly: Psychologically. Who the hell wants to defend something just on a lease? An ice block in the middle of the ocean where, if there’s a war, much of the fighting will happen. The missiles will fly right over that island!
