During the Moderate Party’s election tour in Örebro, Finance Minister Elisabeth Svantesson launched a fierce attack on the Örebro Party’s leader Markus Allard, whose party, according to several polls, is poised to have a much stronger election result than before. She didn’t hold back, calling him both “rude” and “a Trumpist of the worst kind.”
The issue of the Örebro Party came up when the newspaper Nerikes Allehanda interviewed top Moderates during their election campaign visit to Örebro.
While Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson (M) refrained from offering a more detailed assessment of the party, Finance Minister Elisabeth Svantesson (M) directed a sharp attack at Markus Allard.
She criticized his debating style and took the opportunity to give him a lesson in what, in her view, is the proper way to behave within the left-liberal political establishment.
– Debates can have a high ceiling, but he is downright rude, puts people down, and discourages others from getting involved in politics in Örebro, Elisabeth Svantesson told NA.
The Moderate top further compared the Örebro Party leader to U.S. President Donald Trump.
– This is a Trumpist of the worst kind, someone who actually makes people sad. And I think he needs to take responsibility for that, Svantesson told NA.

The Örebro Party aims to enter parliament in this year’s election. To succeed, the party needs to reach at least twelve percent of the votes in Örebro municipality, which would give them a parliamentary seat through the fixed constituency mandate.
Svantesson also directed a message to younger voters who appreciate Allard’s debating style, urging them to think about the tone they want to see in public discourse.
– All of you who think this is kind of cool, think twice. Do you want your children to talk like this to their friends? We should have heated debates, it can be tough, but you must behave towards others, she emphasized.
Allard: “The Government Warns You Not to Elect Me”
Markus Allard dismisses the Moderate Party’s criticism, arguing that the remarks show the government views the Örebro Party as a growing threat ahead of the election. According to him, the attack isn’t about the party’s policies, but rather that it’s gaining support among voters.

He also rejects Elisabeth Svantesson’s claim that his debate style discourages people from engaging politically. On the contrary, Allard claims the party is growing rapidly and reports a strong influx of new members.

Allard further claims that Svantesson’s talk about him “making people sad” really refers to the political establishment.

He also questions whether it is really wrong to upset those in power when they are subjected to harsh criticism, urging voters in Örebro county to vote for the Örebro Party in the parliamentary election.
