The Social Democrats are once again losing significant ground. The day after the Novus poll, new figures now confirm the negative trend for S. At the same time, the lead for the red-green opposition is shrinking further. In Demoskop’s latest poll, the distance to the Tidö parties is at its lowest level in several years.

The Social Democrats’ decline continues. In the new Aftonbladet/Demoskop poll, the party drops from 30.4 to 27.2 percent—a loss of 3.2 percentage points. This is S’s worst result in Demoskop since November 2023.

The current level is also significantly below the Social Democrats’ result in the 2022 parliamentary election, when the party received 30.3 percent. Even compared to the 2018 election result, which at 28.3 percent was the party’s worst ever, today’s figures are lower.

According to Demoskop, a significant portion of the loss is instead going to other opposition parties such as the Left Party, the Green Party, and the Centre Party.

On the red-green side, the Left Party moves forward by nearly one percentage point to 7.9 percent. The Green Party, however, remains steady. The strongest development is seen by the Centre Party, which continues to climb and reaches 8.6 percent—the party’s highest level during the entire current term.

The Gap Narrows

Meanwhile, the Tidö parties continue to catch up with the red-greens. Ahead of the election, the gap between the blocs is now only 3.3 percentage points.

According to Demoskop, this is the smallest measured gap between the blocs since August 2023. The red-green parties collect a total of 50.6 percent in the poll, while the Tidö parties receive 47.3 percent.

This development occurs despite both the Moderate Party and the Christian Democrats losing voter support. The Sweden Democrats, on the other hand, are moving in the opposite direction. After a significant drop in the previous poll, the party rebounds and lands at 20 percent. The Moderates receive 16.6 percent.

One of the other changes in the poll concerns the Liberals. The party moves from 2.0 to 2.8 percent.

The poll was conducted by Demoskop on behalf of Aftonbladet and Svenska Dagbladet as part of the Inizio panel. A total of 1,998 people over the age of 18 were interviewed online between August 25 and September 1. Respondents were asked which party they would vote for if the parliamentary election were held today. The sample is weighted by factors such as age, gender, region, and previous election results.
