DEBATE • The tragic case of Jason Arday has resulted in demonstrations of sympathy and protest in London, where various speakers praise and mourn this young black academic, who made a meteoric rise that ended with a professorship at the prestigious Cambridge University. When it later emerged that his research work was plagiarized and falsified, combined with AI content, Cambridge eventually announced an investigation into his appointment, whereupon Arday resigned. Instead of admitting his fraud and perhaps saving his honor, he chose to take his own life nine days after stepping down.

Thus, Jason Arday joins a group of black, celebrated individuals who have been exposed as frauds and liars. First, there is actor Jussie Smollett, who in 2019 claimed to have been the victim of a racist assault, where, according to him, two men in MAGA caps attacked him and put a noose around his neck. The entire mainstream media bought the story and condemned in harsh terms this appalling act. The Chicago police prioritized the case with a large and costly operation only to discover that it was all a hoax orchestrated by Smollett himself with the help of two Nigerian brothers.

Harvard’s President: Exterminating Jews Not Always Wrong

Another example is a black woman named Claudine Gay (who is not “gay” but certainly “superwoke”?), who, out of 600 nominees, was chosen to succeed Lawrence Bacow as President of Harvard University in 2022. When it later turned out that she too had plagiarized others’ texts in her academic works, voices were raised for her resignation. Most of the protests also consisted of the fact that she did not sufficiently condemn Hamas’ attack on Israel on October 7, and when she was asked at a congressional hearing if it would be against Harvard’s code of conduct for students to call for the genocide of Jewish people, she replied, “It can be, depending on the context.”

This statement, which she later attempted to clarify and apologized for, nevertheless led to severe criticism from the media and the university faculty and ultimately resulted in her resignation in January 2024. Now, the aforementioned Jason Arday also joins this trio of prominent black individuals in society who, according to some, were only toppled from their pedestal due to white people’s racism.

Shooting the Messenger

In the case of Jason Arday and his runaway mythomania, which even an averagely intelligent seven-year-old could easily have seen through, the situation was not improved by the fact that the person who exposed the fraud was a former Cambridge employee – Nathan Cofnas, who describes himself as a “race realist” based on his research. He has made controversial claims that there are evolutionary differences in intelligence between different ethnicities, something that remains highly taboo in education where the scientifically unverified Blank Slate ideology is instead favored.

Naturally, Cofnas was branded as a racist by speakers at Trafalgar Square and, since the revelation, has received death threats and been suspended from his current position at Ghent University in Belgium. It seems that Cofnas’s criticism of Arday doesn’t count since he is considered a racist, and therefore the truth about Arday’s fabrications and plagiarism is not valid because it comes from a so-called “white supremacist,” an argumentative technique known as “guilt by association.”

Another Cambridge researcher who seriously wanted to investigate the so-called “Race and IQ” question was a young white Englishman named Noah Carl, who, in 2018, was granted a three-year fellowship at Cambridge. However, it didn’t take long before he too had to resign after more than 500 “academics” signed an open letter calling Carl’s research racist pseudoscience and also methodologically flawed.

Identity Politics Contrary to Martin Luther King

Without D.E.I. (Diversity, Equity & Inclusion) as enforced social engineering, Claudine Gay would never have been considered for the presidency at Harvard. Nor would Jason Arday have become a professor at Cambridge. These appointments likely had only to do with the individuals’ skin color. Paradoxically, this stands in direct opposition to the future society Martin Luther King dreamed of: A colorblind society.

On the subject of “colorblindness,” Nathan Cofnas was also criticized when he cited an internal study conducted at Harvard which showed that if only academic qualifications were considered, without affirmative action, the black student body would drop from about 12 percent to 0.7 percent. Cofnas actually saw this as unfortunate— in a multiethnic society such as the USA, one perhaps needs some kind of representative quota for minorities, he suggested.

University Professor: All Problems Are Due to White Racism

Another highly placed African American academic is university professor Ibram X. Kendi, who appears to believe that all injustices in society are due to racism, especially against blacks in the USA. Higher crime statistics, poorer school results, relative poverty, all are blamed on white people’s inherent racism. As many whites in the USA feel guilt for the nation’s dark past, they wholeheartedly buy into this theory of discrimination as the cause, without considering alternative explanations.

When whites in the USA were asked after the George Floyd incident about how many unarmed black people are shot and killed by police each year, several guessed between a thousand and up to ten thousand victims— the real number was ten. Thus, the propaganda of the so-called “Race Hustlers” such as BLM, Kendi, and Al Sharpton has been so effective that the general public seems to believe that racism is worse today in the USA than it was during slavery and the “Jim Crow” era.

Environment but Also Inheritance

Political scientist Charles Murray, in his book Facing Reality, presents two alternative truths about America’s race problem. He argues that there may be biological explanations for blacks’ overrepresentation in crime statistics and underperformance in school. Over the years, blacks have always scored lower on SAT and IQ tests, and despite large and costly efforts since the 1960s, the general gap between whites and blacks persists. As intelligence is between 50 and 80 percent hereditary, it is noticed that school initiatives somewhat shrink the gap, but it increases again in adulthood. A statistical effect known as regression to the mean. Since criminality somewhat correlates with low intelligence, which manifests itself in, for example, poor impulse control and lack of discernment, this may be an explanation for the propensity for crime.

An environmental explanation often invoked by black conservative intellectuals is the absence of fathers in black households. Over 70 percent of black children grow up without a responsible father at home, which generally gives poorer conditions for both boys and girls. Positive role models for children and youth to look up to are often mentioned, and one can understand society’s desperate attempts to conjure up such black role models who are not just sports stars and musicians but also academics.

All Critical Thinking Thrown Overboard

Unfortunately, as in the cases above, all critical thinking is often thrown overboard in the pursuit of “good intentions” to do the right thing, leading to unfortunate mistakes. Instead of blaming whistleblower Nathan Cofnas for Jason Arday’s death, blame should rather be placed on Cambridge, which, in its zeal to encourage black academics without further scrutiny, gave Arday a professorship.

They probably wanted to show that even an autistic boy, as Arday was claimed to be, can succeed in life. The fact that his critic Nathan Cofnas is also likely autistic, possibly with Asperger’s, is something no one cares about. This may partly explain why he so persistently insists that there are cognitive differences between populations despite being ostracized and stigmatized by the establishment.

Evolution Doesn’t Care About Political Correctness

But he is probably on to the truth, as it should be logically impossible for people who were separated for tens of thousands of years on different continents to have developed exactly the same type of intelligence. Neuroscientist Sam Harris has said: “It would be a miracle if everything we care about, like intelligence, empathy or aggression was tuned to the exact same population average in every racial group.” The recently deceased Nobel laureate (DNA molecule) James Watson expressed it in a similar way when he wrote: “There is no firm reason to anticipate that the intellectual capacities of peoples geographically separated in their evolution should prove to have evolved identically.”

To quote yet another character, in this case a fictional one, namely master detective Sherlock Holmes and his principle for solving crimes: “It is a capital mistake to theorize before one has data. Insensibly one begins to twist facts to suit theories, instead of theories to suit facts.” Or in Swedish: “First facts. Then conclusions. Not first a theory and then facts that fit the theory.”
