The Sweden Democrats want to strengthen protection for the elderly in care following several high-profile cases of sexual assault.
On Thursday, the party presented several proposals aimed at increasing security for the elderly and announced at the same time that the issue will be raised in the next election campaign.
One of the proposals is to introduce the possibility of voluntary camera surveillance in connection with home care visits. The idea is that the camera should only be active while the care staff are in the residence.
– When the home care staff enter the home, the camera starts, and when the visit is over, it is turned off, said the party’s social policy spokesperson Jessica Stegrud at a press conference.

SD also wants the elderly to be able to choose male or female staff for intimate care. The party further proposes an expanded whistleblower function and stricter requirements for those working in elderly care.
According to Stegrud, elderly people should be able to feel safe and not have to worry about being exposed to abuse or other wrongful acts in care.
