The Sweden Democrats are now taking a new approach to address what the party describes as extensive waste of taxpayers’ money. At a press conference, the party introduced a new working group that will develop concrete proposals to streamline government agencies and reduce unnecessary public spending.
The newly formed working group is headed by the party’s spokesperson for business policy, Tobias Andersson, who believes that progress during the current parliamentary term has been insufficient.
– Waste in the public sector has remained largely unchanged during this period, and we just can’t have it that way, says Andersson (SD) at the press conference.
The Sweden Democrats argue that there are significant savings to be made both within government agencies and ministries. The goal is to free up resources that can instead be used for core activities and strengthening welfare.
The party wants to establish a dedicated Efficiency Minister. The idea is that this person should have a clear mandate to identify and combat waste within the public sector at all levels.
– We Sweden Democrats also believe we are best suited to hold such a ministerial post, says Member of Parliament Josef Fransson (SD).
