Germany’s Chancellor Friedrich Merz could also be kidnapped by the US and prosecuted for crimes, suggests Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of Russia’s Security Council.
– We condemn such threats in the strongest possible terms, commented German government spokesperson Sebastian Hille.
On Sunday, the top Russian politician—who has previously served as both the country’s president and prime minister—was interviewed by the Russian news agency Tass.
The interview mainly revolves around a highly publicized event the day before, when Venezuela’s President Nicolás Maduro was kidnapped in a spectacular American military operation.

“Double Standards”
Medvedev points out that the American operation violates international law. Russia was quick to condemn the attack, something EU, on the other hand, chose not to do.
– The reaction of European countries to what is happening in Venezuela is a classic case of double standards. The cowardly and dependent euro-degenerates are desperately trying to kiss Washington’s ass. That’s why they mumble about a mythical “support for democracy” in Venezuela and attempt at any price to justify this flagrant breach of international law, says Medvedev.

The Russian potentate says that just because the Western world does not consider Maduro a legitimate head of state, it does not give them the right to depose him. And he claims that in such cases, there are more leaders who could be deposed in a similar manner.
– From that perspective, the Ukrainian clown has every reason not to relax. His term has long since expired—a recognized fact that no one in Europe has seriously questioned. There is neither a legal government nor a legitimate president in Ukraine, claims Dmitry Medvedev.
Suggestion: Kidnap Merz
In a direct question from Tass about whether more countries risk being subjected to similar US operations, where their leaders are kidnapped for going against Trump’s interests, Medvedev replied:
– Had this affected a stronger country than Venezuela, such an act would practically be an act of war. After the events in Caracas, it is obvious to everyone that no country can feel safe if it is in any way disliked by the USA. Even less so Denmark, with its Greenland…

He continues, again in response to the same direct question, by saying that even German Chancellor Friedrich Merz could be kidnapped in a similar way as Maduro.

– A kidnapping of that neo-Nazi Merz could be an excellent twist to this carnival spectacle. Nothing surprises anymore these days, says Medvedev, claiming that there is “plenty of reason to indict” the German Chancellor.
However, the Russian Security Council leader does not believe Russia needs to worry about such an attack. The reason, he says, is the country’s possession of nuclear weapons.
– As is well known, with a kind word and a gun you can accomplish much more than with a kind word alone. This saying has been ascribed to both gangsters and comedians—but it never loses its relevance, says Dmitry Medvedev during the interview.
Condemned by Germany
The fact that representatives of the Russian government talk about a kidnapping of Germany’s chancellor—even if done in speculation that the US might do it—has prompted strong reactions in Berlin.

– We condemn such threats in the strongest possible terms, said German government spokesperson Sebastian Hille, reports Spiegel.
It should be noted that German media present it as if Medvedev is speaking about Russia potentially kidnapping Merz, whereas in reality he is talking about a possible American kidnapping if the two countries end up on a collision course.
The German government sees no reason to tighten personal security around Merz in view of Medvedev’s statement.
– The current security measures have proven effective and provide appropriate protection given the specific circumstances and threat level facing the Chancellor, says Sebastian Hille.
