Earlier this month, a left-wing extremist group caused tens of thousands of people in the German capital Berlin to be without electricity for several days. It is now clear that the sabotage has cost a human life.
The power outage was caused by a fire, for which a left-wing extremist group protesting the alleged climate crisis and AI claimed responsibility. ‘Vulkangruppe’ announced that they had deliberately targeted some of the city’s wealthiest districts and have a history of similar sabotage incidents.
The group claims to seek disruption of “capitalist everyday life” and to make people pause and reflect. They condemn a “greed for energy” produced by fossil fuels with high emissions and called the attack “an action in the public interest” and “an act of self-defense and international solidarity with all who protect the earth and life.”
The sabotage by Vulkangruppe led to the death of a woman. According to Berlin’s deputy police chief Marco Langner, the 83-year-old was found severely hypothermic in her apartment by a relative.

Found by Relative
– This relative had taken care of her for months and found her still alive in the apartment. She was then resuscitated in the ambulance – unfortunately without success – and died afterward.
– Regardless of the possible cause of death, this is of course a very regrettable incident – very regrettable for the relatives, the officer added.
– The colleagues from the criminal police who arrived at the scene could not immediately determine that the cause of death was a fall.
An autopsy is planned.
