The problem has been ongoing for several years, and when it escalated into an even more threatening situation, it was decided to shut down the operation entirely.

For ten years, volunteers have provided homework help for young people at the Vällingby Library once a week. In recent years, there has been a gradual deterioration in the volunteers’ behavior towards the staff. This has involved breaking the guidelines by scolding staff in front of others and behaving in a threatening manner.

“Everyone must respect the rules of conduct,” says Deputy Unit Manager Erik Dardel to Mitt i.

Two incident reports have been filed, and in one of them the homework helpers are described as behaving threateningly. According to Erik Dardel, the number of incident reports is underestimated.

The problem has affected both the young people and the work environment. According to management, they were not previously aware of the extent of the issues. Despite the situation, there are plans to restart the operation this autumn but “in a new form.”

None of the volunteers have wished to comment on the decision.
